Item: Straining Spoon Description: Old English Pattern with shell heel Hallmark: Old Sheffield Plate, circa 1790 by Nathaniel Smith & Co. Dimensions: 287mm long Comments: An extremely rare piece Old Sheffield plate (fused silver on copper) flatware. We have never previously encountered an Old Sheffield plate straining spoon. The fused plating is in superb condition with no wear and a beautiful soft patina. The handle has an unusual ridge down the reverse side of the terminal and a shell heel to the underside of the bowl.
