Antique Silver

Item: Soup Ladle Description: Onslow with feather-edge pattern Hallmark: London 1770 by William Sumner Dimensions: Approx. 370mm long; 182g weight

Comments: A magnificent, large (almost 15") soup ladle with fluted bowl, Onslow terminal and bright-cut feather-edged decoration. Onslow pattern was popular in the 1750-70's period and bight-cut decoration was just becoming fashionable in 1770, so this ladle has a very interesting and attractive mix of the two, Condition is excellent with none of the usual splits or repairs to the bowl, crisp decoration and very clear hallmarks. A great piece!
