rare example of one of Tiffany & Co'.s most sought after patterns. The
tomato vine pattern is especially suitable for this large soup ladle with
the vine plants growing around the stem of the handle. The
bowl of this example is the superior fluted variant. The reverse side of
the stem is engraved with French style initials in a manner designed to
simulate the vine tendrils.. fabulous condition with
clear period marks for Tiffany.
Tiffany's Vine Pattern was produced in large number of
variants depicting flowers, fruit and vegetables. It was introduced circa
1872 and this example will date from around this period. A similar
example, with plain bowl, is shown in "Tiffany Silver Flatware"
on page 153.
