Antique Silver

ENGLISH SILVER HALLMARKS by Judith Banister

Probably the most commonly used book on English hallmarks – it cover Scotland & Ireland too! Inexpensive, pocket-sized and easy to use, plus it covers the subject sufficiently to give the reader an "at a glance" origin and date to a given piece of silver. All the most commonly seen date letter cycles, from each assay office, are illustrated in full. To maintain its’ condensed format, it is very light on makers’ marks – but other more voluminous books cover that subject.

As a beginners guide and an "always have with you" book, it serves its’ purpose extremely well.
