Hester Bateman: Queen of English Silversmiths
by David S. Shure
Hester Bateman has long been recognised as one of the finest English silversmiths, in particular for her quality of design. No doubt it was this book that ensured the premium attached to items bearing her mark.
This book describes in detail the life and works of Hester and her family. The majority of the book however (86 plates), is taken up with excellent quality photographs of some of the pieces that gave the Bateman workshop it's fine reputation.
