107 g weight Comments: A superb quality Georgian period puzzle snuff box. The box has a very hefty weight and would fool most people on first handling in attempting to open it. There is a well concealed flap to one end that needs to be prised down from the top. To further confuse, the other three lower edges are engraved to simulate hinges and potential openings! The top cover then needs to be pushed down at the same end to pivot the cover on a hidden hinge. The whole process has a feeling of high craftsmanship and thoughtfulness. The cover is engraved with original script initials and the interior is gilt. A fabulous piece of highly collectable silver.
