Suite of 3 Georgian Salvers, 1749

Details

The large 13" diameter salver is a fabulous piece in its own right, but the bonus of the two additional side trays make this an outstanding suite of salvers. Made by the premier specialist tray maker of the period, these three salvers have superbly decorated floral rims and each is engraved with the same coat-of-arms to the central field. They are all made from a good gauge of silver and consequently have a nice hefty feel in the hand - over 60 troy ounces between them.

Most likely originally used as a suite of waiter trays with the butler commanding the decanter/glasses seated on the larger and glasses passed around by the footmen with the smaller, but these days they could be put to a combination of individual or group uses. The condition is wonderful throughout with neither damage nor repair and a fine original patina.
