Item: Table Spoon Description: Hanoverian rat-tail pattern Hallmark: London circa 1710 by William Petley Dimensions: 201mm long, 56g weight Comments: A good honest rattail spoon with a decent weight and attractively engraved late 18th century betrothal initials (circa 1770) to the reverse terminal. The spoons bears Britannia standard hallmarks which are somewhat rubbed leaving the date letter illegible - however the spoon has a flat stem indicative of earlier styles and the spoon therefore probably dates closer to 1710 (or possibly earlier), rather than a later Britannia standard spoon of nearer to 1720 in date.
