Antique Silver

Item: Table Spoon Description: Hanoverian Shell-& scroll-back Hallmark: London 1771 by Elizabeth Tookey Dimensions: 199mm long; 60g weight

Comments: A very handsome example of a desirable form of fancy back table spoon. This Georgian spoon is in excellent original condition with a very crisp motif to the reverse of the bowl - a combination of a shell and scroll. The reverse terminal is engraved with a betrothal triangle, the bowl retains it's thick rim and the hallmarks are very clear. Interestingly, the ET maker's mark is within a lozenge shape - indicating the mark of a widow. Elizabeth Tookey took over the business of James Tookey following his death in 1768.
