Antique Silver

Item: Sugar Nips Description: Falstaff Mask Hallmark: London circa 1765 by Richard Mills Dimensions: 123mm long; 36 g weight

Comments: A very rare pair of top quality sugar nips (tea tongs) with the unusual feature of an original decorative hinge cover depicting the face of Falstaff (a much loved Shakespearian character from Henry IV parts I and II and The Merry Wives of Windsor). These nippers are very decorative with the addition of engraved decoration along the lengths of the ornate shafts and arms and a scroll cartouche on the obverse hinge cover with original engraved initials.

Ref.: LA/4421 Price: SOLD
