Item: Sugar Nips Description: Baluster and
"S" scroll arms with stoppers Hallmark: London circa
1730 by Thomas Stackhouse Dimensions: 115mm long; 31g weight Comments: A
lovely quality pair of sugar nips dating from early in George II's reign.
This transitional pair of tea tongs displays the beginnings of the scrolls
that were to be found on most later models and yet retain the baluster
sections from the earlier types. The "stoppers" on the finger
rings are an interesting bonus. They are marked to the insides of the
spoon type bowls and are in excellent condition with neither damage nor
repairs.
