Item: Sugar Nips Description: Engraved Rococo scroll
arms Hallmark: London 1755
by Henry Plumpton Dimensions: 123mm; 38 g weight
fine and unusual pair of Georgian sugar nips in superb condition. These
nips have similarities with contemporary pieces from Ireland which
invariably bear engraved decoration - the vast majority of English made
examples are plain in that respect. The central pivot cover is chased to
one side with a shell motif and engraved "W" to the obverse.
Henry Plumpton was a major producer of the best sugar nips and these nips
would be amongst his finest creations.
