Item: Wine Label Description: Port; Rectangle with cut
corners and bright-cut edge Hallmark: Chester circa 1790 by Robert James I (of Liverpool)
Dimensions: 45mm wide Comments: A
very rare port label with English provincial marks for the Chester assay
office - the duty mark helps date the label to between 1786 and 1797. The
label was actually made in Liverpool by Robert James and a clear example of
his mark is evident. The label is in fine all round condition.
