Bachelor Teapot, 1909

Details

Crichton Brothers, with the LAC maker's mark of Lionel Alfred Crichton, were one of the foremost London silver retailers in the early 20th century. They commissioned many faithful reproductions of earlier silver pieces and this teapot is a copy of those made during the reign of King George I (circa 1715-20). Even the Britannia Standard purity of silver matches that used on the originals.

This small bachelor teapot has a lovely, simple form and is fitted with a looped fruitwood handle to protect the user from heat. Considering its diminutive size and dainty appearance, it has a good sturdy weight and is in first class polished condition with no dents, damage nor repairs. The originals in this style sell for several thousand pounds, so this is a great opportunity to obtain this type of teapot at a sensible price!
