Basting Spoons (pair) - Old English Shell pattern - London 1899 by William Hutton & Sons Ltd. - 32cm long; 335g combined weight - AE/2086

These large, late Victorian silver basting spoons have a very heavy feel in the hand and emit a high quality.

The front terminals are graced with a shell motif, plus a fascinating engraved crest featuring a lion under a tree. The combined weight of 11 troy ounces is much heavier than typical and the consequent extra thickness of silver has meant they have survived in excellent condition with good, thick bowl tips. At 11" in length, these are very long and useful serving spoons with lots of character!
