This is a truly outstanding quality three piece silver tea service with a tremendously hefty weight of 47 tr.oz. and superb decoration. The teapot is George III period in date and the cream and sugar were made later in the 19th century and are direct matches, both in terms of decoration and quality. Each piece has a basket weave band around the middle that is repeated around the foot. The coat-of-arms engraved to the side of each piece is an indicator towards the fine quality, plus there is a Gothic script "W" engraved to the other side. Other signs of the high workmanship include the spout to the cream jug, the acanthus leaves above and below the teapot and jug spouts, the bifurcated handle on the teapot that provides extra strength and the flush hinge. This set just oozes top-of-range silver and is in superb condition.
