Sorry, this item is out of stock.

These are a rare and fabulous set of 6 silver teaspoons decorated to the reverse with a galleon in full sail. It is often suggested that galleon picture backs were made to celebrate a British naval victory or for members of the Royal Navy. The scenes on these teaspoons are well preserved with plenty of detail intact.

The galleon pictures are crisp throughout with just very minor wear. The condition of the bowls is excellent with original tips intact and the front terminals bear an engraved monogram. These Hanoverian pattern spoons were made by the top spoonmaker George Smith with the hallmarks comprising the lion passant and GS maker's mark that you would expect from small spoons prior to 1781. A great set!
