Sorry, this item is out of stock.

A very rare set of Irish Queen Ann period table spoons. Finding a single Irish Rattail table spoon is a rarity, but to find a straight, original set of 6 is quite a coup. A further benefit is that they were made by one of the most important makers of the period. The reverse terminals bear elaborate betrothal initials with flower head flourishes. The three hallmarks on each spoon are in generally good legible condition with rubbing to some marks and the spoons themselves have survived well with some minor wear to the bowl tips.

David King was an important silversmith of the late 17th and early 18th centuries. He became sheriff in 1714 (the year of these spoons) and is one of just three Dublin goldsmiths to have a street named in their honour - King Street.
