8.5" long Alwyn Carr Silver Spoon, 1924

This is an outstanding arts & crafts silver spoon from the workshop of Alwyn Carr following the break-up of his partnership with Omar Ramsden.

At 8.5" long and with a weight of 120 grams (4oz), this is large and heavy spoon. It is beautifully decorated with the cast handle formed from three plant stems with seed pods increasing in size towards the terminal and has a drop-shaped bowl that retains the original planishing marks evident of its hand-made manufacture. The spoon is in excellent original condition with crisp hallmarks.

Alwyn Carr's solo work is much more scarce than that of his former partner Omar Ramsden and this is an exceptional example of his creations.
