Caddy Spoon - Bright-cut Engraved with Fluted Bowl - Aberdeen circa 1790 by James Erskine - 6.9cm long - GU/2117</p>

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

Scottish provincial silver caddy spoons are very scarce and generally plain in design, however this Aberdeen-made example with fluted bowl is particularly attractive and has a lovely bright-cut engraved design to the short thumb-shaped handle. The handle also bears an engraved initial "B in script. The two marks to the reverse of the handle conclusively confirm the spoon to have been made by James Erskine in Aberdeen towards the latter part of the 18th Century - a particularly early Scottish caddy spoon. A fine rare piece in excellent condition.
