Boxed 60 piece SILVER HANOVERIAN RATTAIL SILVER CANTEEN CUTLERY,

Sheffield 1990 by Harrods

The Service

We are pleased to be offering a great opportunity to own a boxed silver canteen of cutlery in the very popular Hanoverian Rattail and retailed by the famous Harrods department store of Knightsbridge in London.

This is a straight (same date & maker) service that provides for seven pieces per 8 place settings with additional serving spoons. All pieces are appropriately hallmarked for Sheffield 1990 by Harrods and the knives have this luxury brand name also engraved to the blades. All pieces benefit from being in excellent condition with no personalised engravings.

Hanoverian Rattail Pattern

Hanoverian Rattail was first in fashion between 1710 and 1730 and has been reproduced since the 1880’s. It was the first flatware pattern in the UK to be used for complete canteens. Due to its elegant lines and proportions it has continued to enjoy great popularity and is probably the most sought after traditional pattern. The front of each piece has a distinctive central ridge, whilst the spoons have the trademark rattail extension to the handle on the reverse side of the bowl.

Presentation

This canteen is presented within its original wooden box with a “Harrods” retailer name engraved on a hallmarked silver plaque to the inside of the lid. The interior is lined with burgundy coloured baize and there is a pull-out top tray to reveal a lower compartment.

The canteen has space for 12 place settings (the knives are arranged in two rows of twelve) so there is room to expand the service at a later date if required. In the photograph we have arranged the spoons and forks to fill out the box, so each slot holds two pieces, but these slots could easily take six pieces each.

As with all the canteens available from our web-site, we are happy to send a sample place setting for approval, on receipt of a fully refundable surety payment, prior to purchasing this canteen.
