Sorry, this item is out of stock.

An excellent example of an English provincial, early Charles II period apostle spoon. This West Country spoon has a very good weight and maintains its' original full bowl. The cast apostle is gilt and bears mid-18th century engraved betrothal initials to the nimbus.

There are two marks to the reverse of the stem. One depicts a chalice surrounded by four mullets within a heart-shaped punch. Tim Kent on page 129 of "West Country Silver Spoons & Their Makers" suggests that Christopher Roberts may well be the owner of this mark. The second mark and the bowl mark are a "CR" surrounded by mullets - this adds further credence to the attribution.
