Sorry, this item is out of stock.

A superb book! Comprehensively and beautifully illustrated, with all the information you need to know about caddy spoons. Although it is quite expensive it is simply a must for the serious caddy spoon collector!

The prologue describes, in just about the right amount of detail, the history of tea and the development towards the caddy spoon. Following an account of the earliest caddy spoons, the book continues with individual chapters on the styles of caddy spoon to be found from each of the English assay offices, Scotland, Ireland, United States of America, the Colonies and the Continent. More excellently written chapters follow on speciality spoons (i.e. novelty), non – silver examples, later items etc.

The piece de resistance begins on page 123, with 130 pages of fine illustrations from Norie’s personal collection with generally 5 or 6 examples per page. The last few plates show sample hallmarks. The Appendix provides a useful list of known makers of caddy spoons.

All in all an excellent book that is a pleasure to read and thoroughly covers it’s chosen subject.
