This nicely presented trowel has a silver blade and ivory handle. The blade is engraved with an original presentation inscription as follows: "Presented to Mrs T Hickinbotham March 28th 1900 Wesleyan Church Thornton Heath". The trowel has been well preserved within its original case and remains in excellent condition.

Thornton Heath is near Croydon, Surrey. The Croydon Database records: "The foundation stone for this Wesleyan Church on the corner of Parchmore Road and Fernham Road was laid on 28th March, 1900 and opened on October 24th later in the year".
