A really outstanding and very rare silver suite of afternoon tea equippage. Comprising a dozen teaspoons, caddy spoon with gilt bowl and a particularly scarce pair of sugar tongs, this set was made by the best exponent of spoon making towards the latter decades of the Victorian period, Francis Higgins. Each piece has a delicately cast handle as a fruiting, leafy tendril in the Naturalistic taste and this is the first time we have ever encountered such a comprehensive set complete in their original case. The silver is in superb condition throughout as though it has been barely used, but the case lining has some minor foxing and the case itself is tricky to open (there is a knack!). Teaspoons occasionally appear on the market and the caddy spoons are an especially sought after form and consequently command premium prices. This is a truly tremendous set!
