Caddy Spoon - Cast; Naturalistic - London 1823 by Jonathan Hayne - 11.2cm long; 30g - SN/1358

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a fine example of an early cast silver caddy spoon in the Naturalistic taste. Most cast caddy spoons of this type were made during the Victorian period and by makers such as Chawner or Higgins. This spoon was made by another top specialist spoon-maker, Jonathan Hayne, who is less well-known for his production of caddy spoons. This top quality Georgian caddy spoon has a fabulous leaf form bowl (chased veins & engraved background texture) and a leafy tendril handle and remains in crisp condition throughout. An excellent example.

An identical (gilt) spoon by the smae maker from 1823 is illustrated and discussed on page 12 of Caddy Spoons: An illustrated Supplement" by John Norie. He describes this spoon as a "masterpiece"!
