Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a first class example of a Charles I period silver slip top spoon.

The spoon has everything going for it - fine quality, clear marks and excellent condition. The bowl has a nice, thick rim to it and the patina is as exactly as you would expect for a well looked-after 385 year old spoon! The end of the slipped-off terminal is engraved with original "MC" ownership initials.

The leopard's head crowned mark to the bowl is nice and clear, as are the "RC" maker's mark and lion passant to the base of the hexagonal stem and the date letter towards the terminal. A fine piece of antique silver from Charles' period of "Personal Rule" which would eventually lead to the English Civil War.
