David Field Nutmeg Grater, 1770
Sold
Nutmeg Grater - Egg-shaped - London circa 1770 by David Field - 3.5cm high; 9.5g - DD/7464
David Field was a mid to late 18th century silversmith specialising in small work such as boxes. This lovely egg-shaped, nutmeg grater is typical of his productions and it bears a clear example of his "DF" mark to the inside. The egg can be unscrewed in the middle to reveal the steel rasp and the grated spice can be retrieved by removing this rasp. This novelty, Georgian silver nutmeg grater is in fine condition with no dings nor dents.
