Caddy Spoon - Jockey Cap - Birmingham 1797 by Joseph Taylor - 4.9cm long - TF/1111

Together with the "eagle's wing" and "hand", the jockey cap caddy spoon is the third of the trilogy of the must-have antique silver caddy spoons and this is a great example of the standard plain model produced by Joseph Taylor at the end of the 18th century.

Jockey cap silver caddy spoons take many different forms with the earliest being plain examples produced in 1797 - this spoon is therefore the earliest example that you are likely to find.

This George III period jockey cap caddy spoon has a button to the top and a cut-edge representing the ribbon to the back. A major bonus is the full set of clear hallmarks to the peak (often they are only part marked). The overall condition is very good, but please note the tiny splits in the "ribbon" to the back (see final photo).
