Asparagus Servers - Fiddle & Thread pattern - London 1873 by George Adams - 20cm long; 167g - BH/5861

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

These are a beautiful pair of Victorian silver serving tongs in the popular Fiddle & thread pattern. The blades are finely pierced and one blade has a raised lip to the end to prevent slippage whilst serving. These tongs have a restraining bar to the centre to prevent over stretching, crisp decoration and an excellent engraved crest to the outside of the bow.

The condition is superb and with a good solid weight in the hand, the quality is top class too and typical of that expected from the most important 19th century flatware makers, Chawner & company (GA). Originally intended for use with asparagus, these George Adams tongs in practice could be used for a variety of serving purposes.
