Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This dainty, Georgian silver caddy spoon has a round filigree panel inserted within the circular bowl and has an attractively engraved silver handle with the bonus of no personalised engravings. It bears hallmarks for Thomas Willmore and is in lovely condition.

The art of filigree making was mastered by Italian artisans in the late 18th century. Following a surge in demand in England for filigree work, an influx of Italian craftsmen settled in Birmingham where their services were extensively employed by the silver small workers of the city. Thomas Willmore was an early adopter of the technique and his workshop inserted delicate filigree panels in to silver caddy spoons. Sadly due to their fragility few have survived intact, however the example being offered is in superb condition and is a first class example of the art.
