Georgian Silver Red Port Label, 1788
Sold
Wine Label - Red Port: Navette-shape - London circa 1788 by John Lambe - 4.4cm wide; 7.4g - PG/4575
RED.PORT is a scarce variant of the wider Port family on antique silver wine labels and this George III piece is a great example.
The label is navette-shaped with a bright-cut border and hangs from a belcher chain. It bears the IL makers mark of John Lambe in addition to the post-1785 intaglio duty mark that dates it to the late 1780's. This Georgian bottle ticket remains in fine condition.
