Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is an unusual example of a Hester Bateman caddy spoon that would have been amongst the first she made. The vast majority of Hester Bateman caddy spoons were bright cut engraved and made during the 1780's, however this example dates from the mid to late 1770's and has a simple feather edge design to the border of the cuff handle. The bowl is a deep scallop. Despite its light weight the spoon has survived in remarkably good order. The hallmarks to the reverse show a clear makers mark and a lion passant.
