A beautiful pair of Hester Bateman silver sugar nips with lovely acorn grip and stunning bright-cut engraved decoration. It bears an engraved betrothal triangle to the outside of the bow (where "G" is the surname of the happy couple). There are two marks which date the tongs to before the introduction of the duty mark in 1784. There is a crisp example of the diagnostic "HB" maker's mark.
