Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This very attractive silver sweet basket is typical of the type produced by Hester Bateman. It has a delicately pierced trellis border with pretty engraving. This navette-shaped basket stands on a pierced pedestal foot and has a hinged, swing handle. The beading that is repeated around the body, foot and handle is a trademark feature of Hester Bateman's output from the 1780's. The basket is in excellent condition with a good set of hallmarks with two clear marks by each handle hinge, including a greta example of the sought-after "HB" makers mark for the "Queen of English Silversmiths".
