Vesta Case - Horseshoe shape with puzzle opening - Birmingham 1873 by Howard James - 5.4cm x 5.4cm; 43g - LS/5505</p>

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This Victorian silver vesta case combines two desirable features of match safes: a novelty form and a trick opening mechanism. It is one of the best quality horse-shoe shape examples that we have come across: it is a good size with a nice solid feel in the hand. Furthermore, it has a spinning spur to the side. To access the vesta, there is a clever formula to follow, which once learned is easy to open, but on first handling is quite a puzzle. To both sides of the case is a taper holder.

This is a fine quality vesta case and is in superb original condition.
