Nathaniel Mills Silver

Nathaniel Mills is recognised as the greatest of the Birmingham silver box makers with both quality of manufacture and inventiveness of design being the key reasons for this.

His company Nathaniel Mills & Sons, thrived during the 1820-1850’s as specialist producers of vinaigrettes, snuff boxes and card cases. They made small quantities of other silverware too, but it is the boxes for which they are most well-known, foremost of which are the iconic “castle-tops” that depict famous landmarks and were produced for wealthy travellers as souvenirs during the early years of the railways.
