This fine looking Neo-classical silver basket would originally have been used as an elegant sugar vase for use during breakfast and afternoon tea, however these days as well being a beautiful addition to any silver collection, it can also be put to many practical uses including nibbles and sweets. It has a beautifully pierced trellis work body with bright-cut engraving and stands on a similarly decorated pedestal foot. The swing handle has a graduating oval design and is appropriately marked with Hibernia and "I.I" maker's mark. The underside of the foot also bears appropriate Irish hallmarks for the Dublin maker Joseph Jackson. An excellent piece of Irish silver with script engraved monogram and in fine original condition.
