Soup Ladle - Decorated Hook End - Dublin 1767 by John Laughlin - 34cm long; 182g - VH/9192</p>

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is an outstanding example of a rare Irish hook-end silver soup ladle. More commonly found as basting spoons, the hook-end is a uniquely Irish design of serving item and this example has the bonus of some fabulous, original decoration too.

The front stem is attractively flat-chased with scrolls and flower and an expertly engraved crest featuring a stag to the cartouche. On the reverse side, the base of the stem displays a wonderful frowning/smiling mask at the heel of the fluted bowl. There is an original "W.P" engraved initial to the tip of the hook.

This superb, antique Irish soup ladle is in wonderful, original condition with a great set of hallmarks.
