Taperstick - Octagonal - London 1729 by James Gould - 11.5cm high; 119g - KN/1736

Made by James Gould, one of the top candlestick makers of the period, this excellent quality Georgian silver taperstick just oozes high quality and has a nice solid feel in the hand.

There is an engraved coat-of-arms with surrounding drapery to the dished-out, incurved cornered square base and the underside is clearly stamped with appropriate early George II  period hallmarks, including the distinctive conjoined "I" and "G" mark for James Gould. This antique silver taperstick remains in excellent condition throughout.
