Sorry, this item is out of stock.

Made during the reign of King James I, this superb silver apostle spoon features a gilt, cast finial in the form of St Bartholomew.

The spoon was made by the specialist spoonmaker Daniel Cary and is in excellent condition with a good, full and unworn, fig-shaped bowl. The spoon has an hexagonal stem topped by a gilt, cast apostle figure holding a flaying knife which is emblematic of St Bartholomew and wearing a nimbus with the sacred dove motif (nimbus is pushed-down at the back).

The hallmarks include a reasonable bowl mark, plus excellent stem marks that include a very clear date letter and the “D” enclosing a “C” maker’s mark for Daniel Cary.
