An extremely rare example of a north country 17th century trefid spoon. Spoons made in Leeds are particularly scarce and this example has a superb set of marks. The central mark depicts the Golden Fleece that is present on the City coat of arms and the Borough seal and is an especially sought after town mark. The maker's mark is very clear and easily recognisable, however we are yet to positively identify the maker TB. Jackson's dates this maker to circa 1650, however the style of the spoon with its bulbous terminal suggests a slightly later date. The spoon is in good order with a typically small bowl for a provincial example and 18th century engraved betrothal triangle to the reverse terminal.
