Vesta Case - Leominster Church - Birmingham 1896 by William Thorneywork - 5.2cm long x 3.3cm wide; 26g - VU/5506

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a very rare example of an engraved scene to a silver vesta case in the manner of the castle tops more commonly associated with vinaigrettes, snuff boxes and card cases. The identification has been simplified by "Leominster Church" being engraved underneath the scene. It may be that the vesta case was bought by a wealthy tourist as a souvenir of the visit, but more likely as a gift given to a Leominster local or to somebody who had moved away from the town. This vesta case is in excellent condition throughout.
