Leslie Durbin Silver Nail Top Spoon, 1949
Sold
Spoon - Nail top - London 1949 by Leslie Durbin - 17.5cm long; 56g - WR/2122
Leslie Durbin was apprenticed to and worked for Omar Ramsden and in his own right was one of the most important British silversmith of the early post-war period.
This good-sized silver spoon has a nice solid feel and is of the highest hand-made quality. The original planishing marks and the traditional rattail are evident to the reverse of the bowl. The spoon is clearly struck to the reverse side with the LGD maker's mark of Leslie Durbin and dates from the immediate post-war period when very little silver was produced. It is in excellent condition.
