Vinaigrette - Engine Turned Rectangle with Cast Floral Mounts - Birmingham 1836 by Nathaniel Mills - 3.9cm x 2.5cm; 25g - LH/3409

Nathaniel Mills made some excellent silver vinaigrettes and this example is typical of his high quality output with a really nice feel in the hand.

It is rectangular in form with a cushion shape to give good grip whilst in use. It has cast floral mounts around the top and side, plus an engine turned central field to the cover (around a vacant cartouche), underside and side panels around the cover. The interior has a lovely pierced and engraved grille with rich original gilding throughout and the hallmarks spread between base and cover.

The condition is excellent with crisp decoration, a snug-fitting hinged grille and lovely gilding.
