Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a lovely looking George IV period silver caddy spoon in the naturalistic style and unusually bearing Sheffield hallmarks.

The spoon has a well-made, sturdy cast stem in the form of a leafy branch and a plain bowl with original script engraved initials to the back of the bowl. The Georgian Sheffield marks are clear and include the maker's mark fro Robert Gainsford. The spoon is in excellent condition.

The majority of naturalistic caddy spoons emanated from London, plus Birmingham makers such as Joseph Willmore are also known makers, but this form made in Sheffield is almost unheard of.
