Naturalistic Silver Sugar Sifter Spoon, 1880 H&T
Sold
Sugar Sifter Spoon - Birmingham 1880 by Hilliard & Thomason - 14.4cm long; 22g - RW/1807
This is a beautiful silver sugar sifter spoon in the Naturalistic taste.
Hilliard & Thomason were experts in this form of spoon and despite its lightweight and fragility has survived remarkably well with neither damage nor repair. The spoon has a tendril handle with wine leaves and to the back one leaf the full set of hallmarks can be found. The bowl is beautifully decorated as a leaf with piercings for sprinkling the sugar over puddings and desserts and is lightly gilded.
A lovely Victorian spoon.
