Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a huge antique silver snuff box - just look at the comparison photo with a standard-sized vinaigrette and nutmeg grater!

This large box would originally have been used as a table snuff mull for after-dinner sharing and with its strong hinge would have provided an air-tight container for keeping the ground tobacco fresh. These days it could be used for all manner of purpose and is plenty big enough for trinkets and jewellery.

The box is decorated all over with engine turning, centred to the cover by a vacant rectangular cartouche which benefits from never having been engraved. With a tremendous weight of almost 10 tr.oz. this box just oozes quality and the gilt interior just adds to the feeling of luxuriousness It has a clear set of hallmarks to the interior (part marks to the lid) and is in fine condition throughout.
