Salt Pots (pair) - Cauldron shape - London 1776 by Hester Bateman - 60mm diameter x 36mm high; 80g - NF/3045

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

These are a fine and rare pair of cauldron salt pots made by the most important English lady silversmith - Hester Bateman. They are of typical form, standing on three hoof feet with a bead mount that was fashionable in the mid-1770's and is a trademark feature of Hester Bateman silver from the period. These salt pots have a gilt (gold-wash) interior to protect the silver from the corrosive effects of salt. They bear good hallmarks to the underside.
