Serving Spoons (pair) - Bright-cut Laurel - Dublin 1795 by John Power - 250mm long; 151g combined weight - Ref. No.: TA/2090

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

These are a beautiful pair of large Irish silver table spoons in excellent original condition. They have very attractive and crisp bright-cut engraving along their handles, terminating in a laurel leaf motif.

Each cartouche is finely engraved with a crest above a motto: "Et Mea Messis Erit" (My harvest will arrive). This is the family crest of the Denny family and these spoons were likely to have been made for Sir Edward Denny of Castle Moyle, 3rd Baronet of Tralee Co. Kerry on his ascendancy to the title in 1794. Interestingly, the second Baronet was killed in a duel in 1794.

These 9.75" long spoons remain in fabulous condition with excellent hallmarks.
